Athletic Conditioning - Many Athletes participate in sports that by nature lead to body imbalances by always moving in the same plane or direction. Take Golf or Baseball, where a twisting motion is repeated always on the dominant side, Pilates can help strengthen the weaker side and increase flexibility on the tighter side. Similarly, Equestrians, Runners and Cyclists have a ton of strength in the forward motion but tend to need mobility and power in the rotational and side to side planes. Athletes in these sports also have the knee and hip joint often in Flexion (Bent in front of body) so can greatly benefit from working the Posterior muscles like the  Gluteals and Hamstrings in exercises that increase the extension (Behind the Body) range of motion.

Adding Pilates to your athletic lifestyle will increase these 9 specific performance factors, which, when combined, are essential to creating an athlete who knows how to train and perform at peak levels while greatly reducing the chance of injury:

    Posture
    Balance
    Mobility/Flexibility
    Stability
    Coordination
    Functional Strength
    Endurance
    Proprioception/Body Awareness
    Mind/Body Connection

That’s why Olympic athletes, NBA, NFL, MLB and Equestrian Pro’s have added Pilates to their training regimens.
